Bob Graham Round

COMPLETE (June 2019)

Never give up on your dreams.

After my schoolboy rugby injury, I’d all but given up on running (doctors’ orders). But the call of the Great Outdoors is strong and I’d been slowly chipping away at a serious mountain running dream; the Bob Graham Round.

Late one Wednesday evening in June I touched the doors of Moot Hall and completed the round (42 Lake District peaks, c66 miles and 8,000m of ascent/descent) in just under the allotted 24hrs.

BGR finishIt’s taken me three years of graft and perseverance to achieve. Moreover, it’s taken the support of and encouragement from a small army of people, most of whom have given their time, advice, and positive energy gladly and freely. For this, I’m eternally humbled and grateful.

Whatever your dreams are; keep chipping away, keep believing, ask for help, and never give up.

For now, it’s time for me to switch off the 5am training alarm, grab a beer and hit the paddling pool with my family.
